On the banks of the ancient
New River is a
quiet little out-of-the-way place…convenient,
yet hidden…simple and extraordinary!
Crystal Ridge is a place that you have to
experience for yourself. The land has so many
qualities that are so unique, that no matter how
many years you spend here discovering nature’s
secrets as she reveals them, the experiential
aspects of this environment cannot be captured
by mere words or pictures. You can stand on top
of a mountain and see for miles and miles as a
myriad of mountain ranges lie out before you.
Long range views abound, Grandfather Mountain
stands majestically, and the New River flows
peacefully as it makes its way toward the
Mississippi and on to the Gulf of Mexico. Our
winters are warmer, our summers are cooler, the
autumn is brilliant, and the spring is
spectacular.
Crystal Ridge is located in
West Jefferson NC,
nestled along the meandering banks of the New
River, thought to be some 300 million years old.
In spite of its name, it is the oldest river in
the America, second in age only to the Nile. The
river winds 250 miles through the mountains of
Northwest North Carolina to the north into
Virginia and on into the Ohio River where it
flows into the Mississippi. Within Ashe County,
the river is formed into two branches the South
Fork and the North Fork.
The land lies beautifully making it possible to
enjoy all of its unique and wonderful qualities.
